The brief for this project was to, ‘create an alcohol brand with a strong sense of place. My concept revolves around the Scottish tradition of ordering a ‘hauf n hauf’ (half and half) at the pub, which is half a pint of beer and a whisky.
I created my own brewery called ‘Hauf’ brewery, a company which specialises in making craft beers that perfectly compliment Scotch whisky. The brewing process of beer and whisky is very similar, so by brewing both drinks together, at the same time, using the same ingredients and machines for as much of the process as possible, the result is two drinks that are made to be enjoyed together.
I chose five whiskies that are all made on Islay and developed a craft beer to be enjoyed with them. My packaging uses bold colours that have been inspired by the distilleries original colour schemes, as well as collaged black and white images from each distillery.
